Thanks for the comment. As to whether or not our advice is sarcastic or merely facetious, remains to be determined by what people do in the next few years. Oops, gotta run—my human turned the kitchen light on.

I often wonder about many of these things, too, especially the treatment of God's creation.. We just don't seem to care in the least..

It would take ten plus years to get any benefits from offshore drilling. If we force the oil companies to drill what they have AND get Americans to conserve, that is all we need to do to end the problem. Stupid solutions like nuclear power plants and oil rigs up an down the coast aren't a solution to anything. They just postpone the inevitable fact that we are running out of oil.

Getting more oil does nothing about global warming either!

Our dependence on foreign oil has rebuilt the Russian economy and power. See this article at meed.com for a look at how it happened:

<a href="http://www.meed.com/commentary/last_word/2008/08/middle_east_waits_to_see_impact_of_russias_revival.html" rel="nofollow"> Middle East waits to see impact of Russia's revival</a>

We need to get serious about nuclear power and off-shore drilling if we want to reduce our dependence on what you call anti-American nations (which they are not by the way). Yes, we should begin an X-year plan to eliminate oil use forever. Just use some common sense about how fast we can really do this and open up the drilling in the US for now.
